Theorbo

Early Italian baroque music by Piccinini, Kapsperger and Castaldi

Works of the French baroque associated with the Court of Versailles by Robert deVisee, and my own transcriptions of music by Forqueray, François Couperin, Marin Marais, Duphly et al.

Renaissance lute

I focus mainly on Elizabethan and Jacobean composers such as John Dowland, Daniel Bachelar, John and Robert Johnson, and Francis Cutting,

and on earlier Italian composers such as Francesco da Milano, Marco dell'Aquila, Giovanni Paladino.

Baroque lute

I play on a beautiful 11-course lute after Frei made by Paul Thomson in 1987.

The repertoire includes the most important French composers of the 17th century: Charles Mouton, Jacques Gallot, Ennemond Gaultier

and the German composers Sylvius Leopold Weiss, David Kellner and Johann Sebastian Bach.

Classical Guitar

I play on two lovely 19th century guitars; A French guitar of the Lacote school from c.1840, and a Spanish guitar of the Torres school from c.1880.

Composers of the earlier period include Fernando Sor, Mauro Giuliani and Johann Kaspar Mertz.

Favourite 1850-c 1900 and 20th century composers include Francisco Tarrega and Miguel Llobet, Federico Mompou, F M Torroba, Baden Powell, Antonio Lauro...
